It was lovely to receive the letter below and in sharing hope to encourage all Howick residents to get onboard with the Santa Shoebox Project.
'Dear HowickVillage.co.za,
This is the first year that Howick is participating in the Santa Shoebox Project. Jane Reed (independent Howick resident) took on the challenge to identify the recipients, according to need and the numbers that she would feel Howick would be able to sponsor. She has also co-ordinated the collection, scanning, safe storage, and will be distributing the shoeboxes.
People from Howick and surrounding areas pledged to donate a shoebox or more, to a specific child, on the Santa shoebox project website.
So, it really is an exciting event involving Howick loving Howick.
We want to make this a very special day for the children receiving the shoeboxes, a memory they will probably never forget.
The idea is to have a little party with Father Christmas, and party treats, where they will also receive their shoebox filled with memories of love, to take home. We are looking for sponsorship of sweets, chips, cool drink to make up a party pack, for each child on both days.
The numbers are: 90 children on 3 December- children who are under the care of Angels care, and 350 children on 4 December, children at Thembelihle School.
Kind regards
Kathryn Olive'
Thank you to Sarah van der Bank for the lovely photographs!
