What does a "safe" den site mean...?
It means that the individual animal, in this case two Large Spotted Genet kittens, feel safe, have food and are comfortable enough to express natural behavior. This includes a naturally stimulating environment where boundaries can be pushed, an extremely important factor in the development of all babies.
